Department Description:

The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firm's books and records, and by contributing to firm wide risk management and risk reduction. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley's various businesses and its senior management team.

Department Profile:

The Financial Control Group (FCG) is responsible for overseeing the accounting, financial and regulatory reporting for the Firm. Finance prepares external financial reports for public filings and regulators. For internal reporting, Finance along with Financial Planning and Analysis (FPA), summarizes, plans, and forecasts the organizations financial position, prepares the organizations financial statements including income statements and balance sheets, and analyses future revenues, expenses, and earnings. Finance is comprised of Product Controllers (ISG Finance), Legal Entity Controllers, Internals Control Team, Accounting, Regulatory and Reporting groups, and Valuation Review groups.

Morgan Stanley is seeking a finance professional at Associate designation to work in the ISG Finance organization as a lead for Global Internal Control Team supporting all product classes.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Global Internal Trade Control team is responsible for the identification, classification and escalation of market value and revenue differences (in General Ledger and Sub Ledger) on internal OTC derivative trades across interest rates, credit, foreign exchange, and equity products. This function is fundamental to the accuracy of the firm's reporting of revenues, balance sheet and risk.

Responsibilities include:

  • Market value reconciliation for the internal OTC derivatives trades across interest rates, credit, foreign exchange, and equity product
  • Revenue reconciliation for the internal OTC derivatives trades across interest rates, credit, foreign exchange, and equity products
  • Market value and revenue differences on internal OTC derivative trades (i
  • General Ledger and Sub Ledger) across interest rates, credit, foreign exchange, and equity products
  • Month end production processes for Internal OTC derivative trades
  • Troubleshoot issue encountered in daily and monthly Internals Trade reconciliations.
  • Escalate issues in a timely manner to management and key stakeholders.
  • Work with key stakeholders to ensure timely resolution for all issues.
  • Develop an understanding of the firm's OTC derivative products, and how they are processed in the firm's booking and accounting systems.
  • Manage monthly KRI (Key Risk Indicators) reporting in ISG Finance Governance Forums and highlight KRI status and key issue to Finance senior management.
  • Manage monthly reporting of Internal Trade Control issues to key stakeholders across Valuation Control, Strategies, Legal Entity Controllers and Finance senior management.
  • Participation and driving crossfunctional projects designed to renovate.
  • Internal Trade Control processes and to enhance reporting for Internal OTC Derivative Trades.

Qualifications

Skills required:

  • Good academic background including a Graduation in Commerce, specialization in Accounting or equivalent specialization in Finance stream
  • Sound understanding and knowledge of Accounting and Derivatives.
  • Strong analytical skills along with attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines.
  • Strong Communication and interpersonal skill to manage senior stakeholders across divisions.
  • Ability to make creative and effective use of systems and technology (including MS Office Suite)
  • Self motivated, ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced, rapidly growing, constantly changing, performance driven environment.
