Job Description

BACKGROUND
The Hans Foundation (THF), established in 2009, is a Public Charitable Trust that works towards creating an equitable society to enhance quality of life for all through the empowerment of marginalized and underprivileged communities in India. The Hans Foundation works for the Health and Wellbeing of remote and under-served groups, with an additional focus on children, persons with disabilities and women. THF also works for holistic Education and Livelihood development of our communities. Our Two-Fold Strategy involves identifying and working within Aspirational Districts and high poverty index in the North, North-East and East regions within specific states, as well as catering to lower-income and migratory populations in cities, through urban programs.
Over its 15 years of existence, THF has reached more than 35 million beneficiaries through its programs. THF works with communities through direct implementation of projects on the ground in addition to providing local management and monitoring support to not-for-profit organisations in India funded through THF USA and RIST. 
GENERAL
Location: Himachal Pradesh
Position: 2
Type of Employment: Contractual for 1 year, renewable on project requirements
Education: Graduate in Forestry or MSW
Reporting to: Project manager
  Roles & Responsibility
a.       Project management and coordination
  • Management of the project Under the Project Manager's guidance and THF’s officials.
  • Guiding field-level staff to achieve intended objectives.
  • Develop action plans to achieve the physical and financial targets of the project.
  • Establishment of nurseries and capacity building of villagers’ nursery development, maintenance and other nursery-related works.
  • Network, liaise and develop relationships with state, district/block level government departments and technical institutions.
  • Work closely with the forest department and community during forest fire season.
  • Mass-level awareness drive on forest fire and content development.
  • Implementation of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) and Behaviour Change Communication approaches in the project.
  • Ensuring stakeholder engagement for smooth implementation.
  • Periodic meetings with the project staff, government department and THF’s officials.
  • Data, case study/anecdotes collection from the field with high-quality photographs.
b.     Capacity Building of the project staff and community
  • Helping the Project Manager to develop training manuals for van panchayats, firefighting response groups and volunteers.
  • Capacity building of level staff and community institutions. 
  • Providing support to field-level staff for imparting training to the community.
c.       Team Management and Coordination
  • Assist field-level staff for optimum use of their productivity.
  • Facilitates the field teams in bi-weekly or monthly meetings to review progress against plans, and deliverables and find solutions to problems, share lessons learned etc.
  •  Helping the Project Manager in managing team attendance, keeping the leave records and submitting leaves and attendance records to the Dehradun office in a timely manner.
d.      Community Mobilization
  • Mobilization of community-based institutions like gram panchayats, van panchayats, Mahila mangal dals etc for Mitigation, Preparedness, Response and Recovery at district,   block, and village levels.
  •  Supporting project staff in promoting firefighting response groups, and identifying village-level volunteers.
  • Community mobilization for awareness generation and increased involvement of the  community at each stage of the project.
e.       Monitoring and Evaluation:
  • Ensures monitoring of the project through various mediums and submits reports to the Project Manager.
  • Collect and present information/reports for the project as and when needed.
  • Receiving periodic reports from field-level staff and sending them to the Project Manager.
  • Regular field visits to the project area to monitor project deliverables and shareprogress with the Project Manager.
