The Hans Foundation (THF), established in 2009, is a Public Charitable Trust that works towards creating an equitable society to enhance quality of life for all through the empowerment of marginalized and underprivileged communities in India. The Hans Foundation works for the Health and Wellbeing of remote and under-served groups, with an additional focus on children, persons with disabilities and women. THF also works for holistic Education and Livelihood development of our communities. Our Two-Fold Strategy involves identifying and working within Aspirational Districts and high poverty index in the North, North-East and East regions within specific states, as well as catering to lower-income and migratory populations in cities, through urban programs.
Over its 15 years of existence, THF has reached more than 35 million beneficiaries through its programs. THF works with communities through direct implementation of projects on the ground in addition to providing local management and monitoring support to not-for-profit organisations in India funded through THF USA and RIST.
Background of the Project: Transforming Mental Health for All
The Hans Foundation is running this project to strengthen community mental health services for 400 identified people with mental health issues. THF is using local and contextual experience of Bethany Society (a not-for-profit, secular, registered society established in 1981) in this initiative.
The project is designed to improve the mental well-being and inclusion of persons with mental health issues in the mainstream health system through improving access to comprehensive community mental health services including livelihood opportunities in the selected 40-50 villages of West Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya. This initiative will be working on preventive care in the community, treatment and rehabilitation for people identified with mental health disorders and epileptic conditions.
Goal of the project: Improve the mental health, well-being and quality of life of the community of West Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya.

Job role: Assisting Project Consultant (with Visual Impairment) in accessing information, Official correspondence etc.
1. Duties & Responsibilities
Aware of/Seeking information regarding current developments in Mental Health matters in the State, Government and elsewhere.
ICT skills (crucial): Proficient in MS Word, Excel, ppts and Google related apps as in Google Docs, Google Sheets and Google Slides, conversant with any other is an added welcome.
Availability for travel to/stay in Project Field and otherwise, as and when needed.
Availability for maximum office timings and additional duties, needs be.
Communication Skills in speaking and writing, taking initiatives, alertness and sense of responsibility.
Carry oneself in sincerity and decorum.
Taking on the work on a mission rather than a job mode; co-owning the Project along with Consultant and the Project Team.
2. Other Indicative Requirements
Educational Qualifications
Graduate/Post-Graduate in Social Work, Community Development, Psychology and Counselling, Mental Health.
Functional / Technical Skills and Relevant Experience & Other requirements (Behavioural, Language, Certifications etc.)
1-2 years of experience- preference to those having experience in similar roles. Freshers can also apply.
Language (crucial): English, Khasi/Jaintia; professional in English language skills
Managing Official correspondence, proposals and budget tracking.
Working days and Timings
Monday – Saturday (2nd and 4th Saturdays off)
Timings – 09:00am to 05:00 pm, 8 hours of duty
Holidays: As per THF Holiday list
Salary: Rs 15,000 per month (Inclusive of all taxes)
